Where: Pentacle Theatre
324 52nd Ave. NW, off Highway 22, about 6 miles west of downtown Salem, Oregon
Casting: 8 women and 12 men able to play ages 20 and up.
Auditions: Actors will read from the script, copies of which are available on loan at the Pentacle Theatre Business Office, 145 Liberty St. NE in downtown Salem for a $10 refundable deposit. Call 503-485-4300 to arrange for pickup.
Those auditioning should bring a list of calendar conflicts through May 5. If you have a conflict on the audition date, please contact the director, below.

Rehearsals: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Pentacle Theatre’s rehearsal studio in downtown Salem. The director will set weekend rehearsals and work sessions as needed.
Show dates: Friday, April 13, through Saturday, May 5.
About the show: Winner of three Tony Awards, including best play, and four Drama Desk Awards, The Elephant Man recounts John Merrick’s journey from a sideshow freak to become a celebrated member of Victorian London’s high society.

The director will cast 8 women and 12 men able to play able to play the following ages and roles. The director may double-cast certain roles:
Frederick Treves: 35 and up — A surgeon and teacher.
Carr Gomm: Middle-aged — Administrator of the London Hospital.
Ross: 50s and up — Manager of the Elephant Man.
John Merrick: 20s-30s — The Elephant Man.
Three Pinheads: Two to three women freaks whose heads are pointed.
Belgian Policemen: 30s.
London Policeman: 30s.
Man: At a fairground in Brussels.
Conductor: Of Ostend-London boat train.
Bishop Walsham How: 40s and up.
Porter: At the London Hospital.
Snork: Also a porter.
Mrs. Kendal: 40s and up — An actress
Duchess: A mature society lady.
Countess: A mature society lady.
Princess Alexandra: 30s and up.
Lord John: 40s and up.
Nurse, Miss Sandwich: 30s and up.
